WHAT IS THE PRICE OF TRAVERTINE TILES?
Travertine tiles and pavers have a rich heritage dating back to Roman times. They have always had a rich and luxurious allure attached to them.
Travertine was used exclusively in building the Roman Colosseum and was the dominant stone used in building the Roman Forum. Basically if you were a noble in Roman times your house had a lot of travertine in it.
Nowadays Travertine is not used as a building material but as floor and wall tiles and outdoor pavers. Up until around 2012-2013 travertine tiles and pavers were always VERY expensive and exclusive. It was around this time that Travertine quarry’s in Turkey and Iran doubled production through better mining and production techniques flooding the export market with Travertine tiles and pavers.
This glut in the travertine market lead to a decrease in prices in the Australian market in general. Slate and Stone Discounts then negotiated directly with one of the quarry owners in Turkey. Guaranteeing the purchase of very large quantities of pavers and tiles in return for heavily discounted prices.
This has led us to be a market leader in Travertine Tiles and Pavers regarding value for money. We constantly sell our travertine for less than our competitors sale prices. An example of travertine prices is as follows:
Ivory Travertine Honed and Filed Tiles have been used for the bathroom above. The stone comes from Istanbul Travertine Quarries in Turkey. We have tiles and pavers in various sizes in 12mm and 30mm thickness, we can custom order sizes to suit your needs.

Cleaning Travertine Tiles & Pavers
A lot of people seem to think all stones are stain proof, If left unsealed spills and everyday messes can easily penetrate the surface of your Travertine.
Every once in a while you may need to clean your Travertine, especially if it’s in a high traffic area or an outside area. There are many affordable cleaners available for Travertine, when cleaning be sure to apply with a mop and if stains are persistent use a more concentrated solution. Do not use any high pressure cleaning equipment when cleaning your tile or paver as it will damage the stone.
Removing stains from your Travertine
If you have a spillage on your Travertine be sure to remove the stain straight away by blotting it up, do not rub it into the Travertine as it will only make it harder for the stain to be removed as the stone. IF the stain remains after light cleaning simply apply a poultice to draw the stain out overnight.
Do NOT clean your Travertine with cleaners that contain lemon, orange, ammonia or vinegar.
Travertine French pattern
Using four different sized travertine pavers creates a french pattern, The biggest advantage when using french pattern is its versatility in design, its ability to work within almost any space, and the character and beauty.
The travertine pavers come in four different sizes to make up the french pattern, all pavers are 12mm thick.
They are the 3 different sizes used in french pattern.
The key difference between travertine and other natural stones lies in the formation of the rock, the hardness of the stone and the appearance.
You can get different types of travertine pavers, which all come in ivory, classico, walnut and silver grey.
TUMBLED – The edges of the tiles have been tumbled giving a time worn, rustic appearance
POLISHED – Polished travertine is a smooth fully honed surface which is suitable for all indoor areas.
HONED – A honed stone has a smooth texture and finish that is achieved by grinding one side of the unfinished stone. The finish can range from a dull matte to a satin or high sheen.
